Yay! I get a day off tomorrow!
What makes the sound "mphhhhhh! mphhhhhh! mphhhhh!"?
Yes, that would be Eddie chewing into his 2nd tennis ball tonight, under my bed.

Kyler had a baby girl! Born on Christmas day. Took me THAT LONG to realize why she called it Noelle. (duh) It was nice, for lack of a better word, to be in that hospital room with Dupis & Bea and Voit + Voits family on Christmas Day. Ysa and husband came later on too. No baby though... we'll see her on Saturday when Marty gets back.
Christmas was Christmas. Except we didn't have to go to Baguio this year, thank goodness. Too bad Boogie and Kuya G weren't here. Marty wasn't here either because dumdum made plans to go to Vietnam. He spent Christmas eve reading a textbook and watching soccer in his hotel room. Or so he says.
Had the most successful shopping trip by far yesterday. I bought 4 sleek skirts of various designs and colors (i love them all, no favorites), 2 sleeveless turtlenecks and 2 pairs of slacks. I am expanding my wardrobe to fit into mature hospital wear. I swear when I start earning my own money, I will spend it all on clothes. I have a penchant for silk at the moment; it feels so good on the skin.
I have been in a mall almost every single day since I got here. It's so exciting though. It's torture to live with my imagination, because every day I think I am going to die from a bomb blast. That's called living on the edge. Sortof.
Can't wait till Saturday. Marty (Tweedledum) will get here. Tom (Twiddledee) should be here by then too, but due to his budget airline ticket, his plane lands in Clark. He cracks me up. He'll be of great value on this trip.
As for the month in Palawan... (Which reminds me, malaria pills!!) Shannon and I are already gearing up for being the responsible girls who have keep a watchful eye to keep the boys from getting themselves in trouble. Oh joy...

Went through a massive pack and move-fest on Tuesday and Wednesday, then topped it off with a long drive to Melbourne. Marty and I took turns driving, but that's still 3 and half hours each. Exhaustion set in last night, and my sleep was deep as death.
Will leave for the Philippines Sunday morning. Friends - Let's meet up. I'm there till early January, then will leave for Palawan. Staying in Palawan for a month working in the hospital, then back to Manila again for a couple more weeks.
I'll be with Tom and Shannon and Marty. I have to say, they are all beautiful and fun people. Take us out. Haha. :-p
Boogie has a new kitten, and it is gorgeous. She is so tiny and so pretty. Nice one Boogery. Gotta go give her attention now, she is getting playful and scratchy and meowing for a change of scene.

I think I need a break. I've been holed up in this house for the past 7 years - actually 7 days, but it feels THAT long. I've only been out to buy a pack of naughty sticks when the electricity went out and I needed something to keep me company in the dark.
Mrt is going to Sydney this weekend for an 80's themed birthday party. I decided not to come because that would mean 10 hours of driving for me, and I cannot hack that sort of crap anymore. Anyhoo, he's going to wear his Monkey Magic outfit!! I am so excited for him. Like how a mom gets excited making her kids' costumes for halloween. Monkey Magic is not exactly 80's but it'll do. Most people won't know that it started in 1978.
My sleeping pattern is screwed up, and I have good and days and bad days when it somes to studying. Today was bad. I spent most of my time asleep, eating, reading the Trials of Rumpole or reading lipstick.com - did you know Boy George has been charged with imprisoning a male prostitute? He kept him chained to a wall in his London apartment. What do you say to that? That kind of news is way more interesting that ankle fractures.
I have just been overcome (like just at this moment) with an overwhelming lack of desire to do anything, and that includes writing (I cannot call this blogging, for some strange reason) so I will cut my rant short right.........now.

[30 Oct 2007|04:29pm] |
Looooong, but satisfying day yesterday. I pulled a 13 hour shift in the emergency department. Saw and did a lot of stuff, and went home past my old bedtime (9pm) when I used to have a circadian rhythm.
Some of the more interesting stuff:
** A 16 year old kid with a laceration on his hand made my day. I was in the room joking around with him and his mom when the doc came in, and asked "Who do you want to stitch this up, me or her? (pointing to me)". The kid replied, "She can do it. She's cool." Haha, hear that? I'm cool. :-)
** As I was walking down the dark hospital corridor, I got ambushed by a demented man who thought I was a soldier. "Soldier!" He said. "My men don't know what's going on!" Behind him were four other patients lying in their beds. "Watch out for the enemy up ahead, and report to me if you see any bombers!" I should have saluted him.
** A girl came in with "fly in the ear" written on her triage form. I was assigned the glamorous task of syringeing water into her ear to flush out the fly. I thought it would be hopeless, but after the first flush lo and behold - a little fruit fly! There was another huge lump in there though, that I thought was a big, regular fly. I took it out with forceps, and was like, "What the hell is that?" I showed the nurse and she was like "What the hell IS that?". The doc came in, and he said, "I don't know what that is. What IS that?"
** Spent time talking to a woman who came in for "grief". What the hell. She just needed to talk to someone, poor woman. Some people here are so lonely. Anyway, I came into the consultation room and sat down with her. She got to talk it out to someone who would listen, and I got to sit down and rest my feet for a while.
I crashed when I got home last night, but still forced myself to get up for 8am ward round this morning. So proud of myself. My motivation is back, but only because the end is near. haha.

[27 Oct 2007|05:48pm] |
Took an early weekend (Martin did at least). Was in Canberra for a doctor's appointment, then stayed an extra night and ended up kidnapping Marty and taking him back to the coast with me.
He went home by bus today. As far as I know he's still on the bus, and won't get to Canberra for another 10 minutes.
It's lonely here without him.
He surprised me the other night and SHAVED OFF HIS GOATEE. I didn't notice for a whole 10 minutes. I just thought he looked a bit more baby-faced than usual.
He's had that goatee for more than 2 years (that's majority of how long i've known him), and without it he looks like such a baby. Love.
I'm so tired of everything. I can't wait until exams are over in a little over a month. I just want to relax and not think about anything. I want to lie down and do nothing and not feel guilty that i'm not studying or working or ANYTHING.
I want to be a blank canvas again.

| I. Love. Pork. Liempo. |
[22 Oct 2007|07:34pm] |
It smells so bad when the pork starts cooking but in the end it tastes soooooo good. I can feel my arteries clogging. I miss pinoy food.
Marty messaged me today, "I miss you :-(". Wow! He misses me pala. I messaged back "I'll see you tomorrow". He replied, "Oooooh yeah! That makes me happy then..." What a doof. He forgot I was going up to see him, and started sulking prematurely.
Ahahahay. Back to study.

Still in self-imposed exile. But man, oh man, I have a massive craving for pork liempo. There's no food left in my kitchen (i ate it all), but I don't want to venture into the outside world. I started raiding Marty's instant noodle stash yesterday, but I can't stand those things for much longer.
What do I do? Keep reading about lungs and gut formation? Keep eating instant noodles? Or go out and find some food?
As long as I still have coffee I think i'll survive. Only problem is I don't have any more milk, and I like black coffee but it gets a bit too acidic if there's no milk. Making cappucinos is a (2 hourly) ritual for me, and short blacks just don't cut it.
*sigh* I think i'm wilting.

[20 Oct 2007|08:51pm] |
My 2nd weekend without Martin. I'm getting used to this. :-p I have my own schedule, and I can do whatever I want. He's in Sydney for meetings at the moment, and tonight he's out with friends.
Today I read my old embryology book. I'm in self-imposed exile for the weekend, but that may be broken tomorrow because Hemani might be coming over to make some curry for Katie, Andy and I. Yessss. Curry love.
I love the feeling after I've studied. It feels as if i'm re-adjusting my brain cells and their connections, which I screwed up after years of being high in the clouds.
For dinner I made a solitary pancake, which I ate with butter & cinnamon sugar on one half, and peanut butter and raspberry jelly on the other.
Going back to readjusting brain cell connections now. Adios.

Fuuuuck no!!!!!!!!!
My guilty pleasure of watching Gossip Girl on YouTube is no more. They've taken it down because of copyright blah blah.
Uggghhhh!!!!
I sat down, made myself an awesome sandwich with salmon and cream cheese and lettuce and capers, and *clicked* on episode 4. I got that stupid message. Pooooooo!!!
I haven't been this disappointed in a long while. Suppose I should just study. *scowl* *scowl!* *scowl!!*

I miss him. :-(
This is the first weekend we've ever spent apart.
We live 170 kms away from each other, and either of us travels that distance twice over - EVERY WEEKEND.
No wonder I'm so tired.
I've resolved not to drive AT ALL this weekend. I'm holing up to study... And do some party planning. :-)
Never underestimate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Mmmmm.

Saw the saddest roadkill today. Mommy kangaroo and a baby kangaroo a few feet away. Cry. :-(

The weather was beeeeautiful this weekend! Jess, Jac, Marty & I met at the Muffin Shop, and while we were sitting there in the sun sipping coffee we figured "hey, why not sit in the sun at the beach?"
So off we went to spend a day working on our tans. Drove to Meringo beach (which is a beautiful, isolated beach with almost always NOONE ELSE AROUND) - but not before going to Woolworths where I bought a jug of sunscreen and some gum.
We sat there for a while, with the ocean sounds and sand. And the wind! Stupid wind! It was freezing, so it was a precarious balance between cold wind and hot sun. In the end, the sun hid away and the wind won so we packed up and left for home and some hot tea.
I really need to work on a tan now. I have 2 weeks left before the ball, and I'm not going to show up pasty white, or with a fake orange tan. Yuck.
Jess, Ianthe and Jac have gone back to Canberra now. We've got a new batch of students in town tomorrow. I have to say, i'll miss those girls. They've kept me sane in the past 6 weeks and I heart them. :-)

Am back in Bateman's (again & again & again & again). Minding Kedar's house was fun! There were books everywhere - I picked up a copy of the complete short stories of Roald Dahl. I can't read anything longer than a short story because I don't have the attention span.
I said goodbye to Martin in Kedar's driveway. Scandalized the neighborhood with public hugs and kisses.
Ahh! I'm excited now about the ball. My dress is fixed! It's grey and backless and slinky. And I wish I could fill it out better, but I'll just have to find the right backless bra for that (i.e. pushup or "with filling"). Where do I find one of those here? I might have to shop in Canberra for that.
I came home today and had a quick chat with Penny. We were talking about *the girl* coming to live here next year, and we thought of some pretty evil stuff to do - like leave behind a picture of me and Marty in an empty cupboard. Or leave condoms in the drawers. Hahahahahaha. Penny and I had a good laugh about how evil we could be if we'd just put our minds to it. Anything is possible.
Ianthe will come and pick me up in a little while. We're going to Jess' place for dinner. Toodles noodles!

Wow. I mean effing WOW. The concert of Friday was awesome, and it was purely because of Robert Smith.
Mrt and I drove into Sydney and parked the car in a mall parking area. Parking was like $25 if we were to stay longer than 4 hours. How ridiculous.
Anyway, we parked and walked about 15 minutes to the Entertainment Centre. We had some time to kill so we walked around for a little while. I'm liking Sydney more and more. :) We walked through Chinatown, but neither of us was hungry enough for a full meal so we settled for the bakery. Everything was soooo cheap! I had a slice of almond slivers coated in honey. Marty had siopao type buns and ate some of my slice too.
Walking around the city makes you feel so...vibrant. I felt like I was a part of society again. It's been ages since I've strolled on crowded sidewalks with young people and middle aged people - not just retirees in their wheelie-walkers.
There was a man hawking The Cure t-shirts on the sidewalk. He was selling the shirts for $20, but only had medium and large sizes. We told the guy we'd be back, and went to check out the shirts at the Entertainment Centre...$45! Haha. We decided to go back to the hawker, and picked up matching shirts with a Robert Smith silhouette and "Boys Don't Cry" printed on the front. Awesomeness.
So many goths all over the place. Pale kids wearing black, with lots of piercings and makeup. Me and Marty looked so out of place, but when we got to our reserved seats we found out we were in the Normal People section. Most of the goths had ground floor tickets, which meant standing in front of the stage getting squashed by the crowd and felt up by whoever was standing near. They were so cute. Like a big mass of black and colorful people, bouncing with the boppy songs.
The concert itself was pure bliss. They started off with Open, then went onto From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea, and played for 3 and a half hours straight. No intermission, 3 encores. And Robert Smith's voice was crystal clear and untainted. He held all his notes, even at the end of 3 hours when he sounded tired. But man, did he deliver! Oh my God it was awesome!!!! I didn't know how to react, and at one stage while they were playing Letter to Elise I found myself bawling my eyes out. Marty looked at me with that girls-are-so-weird look, but he later smiled and said "I understand". :-)
I was sitting there wondering if they'd play Wrong Number, but though 'nah, it's probably too complicated' because they had no keyboards. It turns out their next song was...haha. Wrong Number. They used canned music for some parts, and the guitarist tried his best, but in all honesty he was pretty crap. Robert Smith redeemed the whole affair - three times over.
After the concert, we walked back to the mall and couldn't find out way in. Haha. All the doors to the mall were locked, so we took the car entrance, found our car and sped away. The boom gates were up at this time, so no pay parking for us!
ANyhoo...the rest of the weekend was just relaxing. We hung out with Marty's bro at his apartment, and went to eat delicious food at a Portugese chicken place for lunch, and Chinese for dinner. Sydney kicks Canberra's ass any day.
Drove back to Canberra, and then drove back some more to Bateman's Bay today. I am so tired from all that driving, but I had one of the best weekends everrrr!

Have just gotten back from the Can. Weekend was great! Roadtripped to Sydney on Saturday and unloaded all our things in Leo's apartment. Then we went to have hotpot for dinner that night.
It was yum! Except... the service was soooo bad! It took them 2 hours to bring out all our food. They were serving a few plates here and there, and when there was a lull in the food I lost my appetite completely. Yum, but the service makes all the difference. One girl turned off our burner because it was getting to smokey, and it took them 10 minutes to turn it back on! And another appetite suppressant is the fact that everyone at the table was just dipping their chopsticks in the hotpot instead of scooping the stuff out. That would be double dipping 10 times over. Yucchhhh.
Guns n Roses was cool. Took the train with Marty, Leo and Jen. Didn't know where to go, because the 'crowd' the we were meant to follow to the stadium didn't exist. Then Marty started laughing. 'Follow them!!' And he pointed to three guys wearing skinny jeans, flannel shirts, bandannas and MULLETS!! Hahahahahahahaha! So we followed our three friends over to the park till we realized they had no clue where they were going.
We took a shortcut through a muddy field where my boots sank into the ground. Then right when we were coming off the grass, we see our three friends - they'd walked around on the CONCRETE, which was pretty smart of them despite their haircuts.
Sebastian Bach was one of the opening acts. Ahhhahahahaha! YOu just have to love it! Axl Rose was old and he had a fat gut. We suspected he was wearing hair extensions, cause no man his age could have enough hair to wear cornrows like that. But still. He still rocked. Haha. Marty was disappointed that they didn't play all their old hits, but I suppose they were promoting a new album. You could tell when it was a new song because the crowd would go for toilet breaks, and no one would react. Heh.
Sunday had lunch with Ala at EL VAJINA! Haha. I love that place. That garlic dip really cinched the deal. Leo came along because he can't resist good food. He's a kind of connoisseur when it comes to food. You can trust that something is good if Leo likes it.
Spent yesterday studying. Today I drove back to Mossy Point. Stayed with Marty parents when I was in Canberra - we made them lasagne after work. His dad really appreciates when I come over because I always cook something for dinner! Hehe. Yum.
Anyhoo. I head over to Bega tomorrow morning. Two hour roadtrips are pretty standard for me now.. It's not a roadtrip anymore unless is 3 or more hours. I'd better get lots of sleep tonight though. Goodnight and toodles. :-)

Hey guess what? Marty's coming back to the Philippines again at the end of the year. :D :D
We're doing electives somewhere. Bohol, Palawan or somewhere nice. We'll be going with Tom and Shannon (girl Shannon), so we'll be a little group. Have to take them around Manila too.
When we were having dinner at Marty's house, his dad was asking if it was safe for all of us to be travelling together. He was scared that we'd be an easy target for kidnappers.
Marty said we'd be safe because Tom and Shannon are white, and they'd cost more with ransom money. What a funny. hahahaha.

Yeah, if you're going to be in Canberra on Thursday just stay there for the weekend. Yeah, yeah, great! Go to the pictures!
"Go to the pictures" is what old people say when they mean go see a movie.
